Love the EP! I’ve had it a few weeks playing endlessly in the car, enjoying that that soothing voice down the highway. His musical talent and voice are a masterpiece! Discovering James Passey and his music has been a blessing to my soul and my heart! I passed the EP on to my brother in law to check it out and I don’t think I’m getting it back, will have to order another!

Check out James Passey on youtube. One of the best raw acoustic artists I’ve ever listen to. His lyrics will mezmerize your mind and his voice will calm your soul. Don’t forget to like and subscribe his page as a friendly support.

I hear and feel so much of the radiant warmth of early James Taylor in your work. You are the real deal and I pray you continue on the path you are on. The world needs sincerity and truth that you communicate in your songs. The Carolina states await you. Peace.

James,
My musician friend Scott Amstutz from the Stray Toasters band introduced me to your latest EP recently. I am not a musician. My music journey is one of a inquisitive listener of many genres.
I am SO impressed by the musicality, love and warmth this ep brings with each listen. The craft and production in these songs are SO thoughtful but is not overdone. James, I can’t help but feel you are very confident and genuine, so lacking in the music industry.
I read some of the reviews posted on your website and agree you have paid homage to so many legends. However, what you have shared on your ep is from your heart and soul. This is just a wonderful gift of song we need in these pandemic times. Thank you SO much for this pick me up and the gift you share.

Combination of voice, lyrics, melody, and strings that go straight to the heart. It’s soothing and heartbreaking all at once – it’s the stories we remember and the feelings we all had at one point in our lives. There is yearning and passion delivered almost effortlessly (it seems to me). You should pour yourself a favorite drink, turn the lights down and listen to James’ voice and guitar telling you stories that you know and can connect with immediately. “Cross that bridge forever…”

Christy King –
I was introduced to James Passey’s music because we are both John Martyn fans. Well I will make this short and sweet. After being around all the great music in the late 60s and early 70s I thought nothing could impress me. I was so wrong. As soon as I played the clip he posted I wanted more! He kindly sent me the EP and I have not stopped listening to it. All 4 songs are equally moving. His voice takes you in and the songs stir your emotions. The guitar playing is like nothing I’ve heard since John Martyn and that is saying a lot. James is the whole package and I’m anxious for his new music to take me further on this incredible journey.

Lorraine Henshaw –
I discovered James’s music through my son, after they met whilst recording on The Gus Dudgeon Foundation Sessions at the university of South Wales a couple of years ago. The tracks recorded during that session introduced me to the incredible music created by this wonderfully talented man, and I have been listening intently to his work ever since.
James very kindly sent me a copy of his EP and I couldn’t wait to listen to it. I was not disappointed.
4 beautiful tracks, all written and performed by James, with additional instrumentation from George Shilling, Rog Mogale, Mim Grey and Bonneer.
I absolutely recommend that if you haven’t already bought the EP, then you do. And treasure it, for it is truly a thing of beauty.

After nearly 50yrs in the music business, 35 of them in the London Symphony Orchestra, collaborating with some of the finest artists in the world (André Previn; John Williams; Nanci Griffith; Frank Zappa; Elvis Costello; Emily Sandé to name but a few) I hope I could be forgiven for thinking that I’ve seen and heard it all. And then out of the blue along comes James Passey. To hear songs so lyrical and musical is a joy when everything else seems to sound the same. His voice is mesmerising, and his writing refreshing. His guitar playing is a delight. I can’t wait for more. Hope it’s not too long before the next EP.

Love the EP! I’ve had it on heavy rotation for about a month now and the tunes still get stuck in my head. James’ music feels both brand new while being chock-full of nostalgia. The type of music that makes me want to jump in the car and go on a road trip.

This is one bitching EP from James Passey. I’ve been listening to it all day. Absolutely love all four songs! His guitar skills are great, but I’m mostly taken with his voice and vocal nuance. I don’t like to compare artists, but in some places it reminds me so much of Paul Simon. James has such a beautiful tone with tremendous warmth. I’m taken in, and hope I will be catching him live in the not too far future. Can’t wait to see what he will do next!

A truly stunning EP! The more you listen to it the more it draws you in, James is a true finger picking genius it stems from his brain, his soul and his heart. There’s so much passion in the lyrics that it takes me back to places and times my memory had kept locked away. I’m so grateful James has finally introduced the world to the truly great song writer and guitar player he is.

I was introduced to James a few months ago. Wow, what a talent! I often found myself making comparisons with other singer songwriters but I realise I was wrong, my appreciation of him has more in common with my view of the art world. When everyone seems to be creating installations, abandoned beds, light shows and floating monstrosities, it’s like finding someone who paints. With a brush. On canvas. He paints people, relationships, landscapes, images that we can all instantly relate to without any need for explanation. If he were a painter, they would not be copies of famous artworks, they would be his own artworks, accessible to all and produced in a medium everybody understands and that is too often overlooked as the mainstream constantly struggles, unnecessarily, to reinvent itself. This is not reinvention and it is not imitation either, it’s simply beautiful music and lyrics. Do please find a moment to listen to his work, it will be a moment of peace in your day.

My first exposure to James Passey was the video for “ Dead Ends “. A hauntingly beautiful song with a simple message that really spoke to me personally at this point in my life. No one knows what tomorrow brings for us……but by the time Dead Ends finishes……..your left with a sense of hope.
There are many things that weave magic in the world of James Passey. His ability to take these everyday emotions of love and surviving the world around us and put it to song in simple beautiful phrasing is powerful. His fingerstyle guitar playing is so amazingly accurate and on point. Never letting the music take anything away from the message in the song.
James has given us something we’ve not had in some time. Pure……Raw…….from the Heart songwriting. It’s really the kind of songs that will remind you of some seriously classic songs from your youth. Still yet…….James has managed to modernize the sound of what he’s doing so you know he’s speaking to you now. “ Don’t Leave Me Now “ was a pleasant surprise being a piano based tune with a melody that you’ll be singing for MONTHS!!!!!
All I can say is that this E.P. has been pure joy to listen to……a gift really. I look forward to seeing what else this artist has up his sleeve. So creative! Quite the inspiration to many young writers I hope! I look forward to more with hopes of him touring the U.S. in the not too distant future. Thank You Frank Maudsley (A Flock of Seagulls) for sharing “ Dead Ends “ back in January and exposing this truly great song writer! -S ❤️⭐️

Message from legendary songwriter Martin Page
“Hey James your wonderful CD EP arrived today. Big thanks mate…. it’s a lovely special record. Dead Ends and Don’t Leave Me Now are particularly poignant. Your sense of melody – your sense of understatement and emotion is so evident on these tracks. Not to mention your finger style playing… eloquent brother – reminds of James Taylor’s unique fingering. I shall spread the word around to all that will hear me over here… as you are writing such personal and ‘close to the bone’ gems – and it feels to me, you should be discovered on a wider scale.
It’s refreshing to hear songs that are written because they just have to be – songs that are dictated to by personal human emotion. Like me, you’ve been at it for some time now – and your maturity is a ‘gift’ – not a hinderance.
Beautiful emotive singing too James – your tone is rich in experience.
Again mate, thanks for thinking of me and sending the CD. It’s being played on repeat here in my home. I will talk to all over here who will listen about you… for it’s just a matter of time until the penny drops – and the world will be touched by your musical honesty.”

Richard Studholme –
James Passey… a resurgence of talent in a world of musical mediocrity….I was pleased to listen to this beautifully recorded CD… the songs are individual, slightly reminiscent of Nick Drake in places…James treats us to some some deft fingerpicking, has a great voice, and some well crafted, suss, and lyrically strong songs.
There are some beautifully sympathetic overdubs, which seem to capture James’ persona and vibe perfectly.
In this video age of scantily clad women filmed in slow motion with more than a healthy dose of autotune, and less than a healthy dose of talent, with songs that all seem to be written by the same person, James is an oasis of talent… fresh, vibrant, and uplifting. I can’t wait to see where his journey will take him.

An incredible artist! The lyrics, the guitar, the voice…. Listening to James Passey is like going back in time but with a wonderful fresh present feel. Lots of influences come to mind while enjoying his songs, but still an incredible presence of his own unique voice, lyrics and melodies …an artist definitely not to be missed IMO!! Cannot wait to see him play live! So looking forward for more. TOP of my music list!

James is a refreshing discovery, one of the best things that came out of 2020, having come across his music on Facebook.
It’s hard to pick a favourite from this EP, they are all extremely pleasing to the ears, with a couple of tracks subtly, but beautifully enhanced by the voices of Mim Grey and Bonneer.
His writing/playing/vocal talent is clearly expressed in the honesty of his lyrics, lovely picking style and mellow sound. A perfect mix.
In addition to this EP I’ve listened to his recent demo ‘Empires’ and have to say this is now my absolute favourite; so touching it brought me close to tears – one for the next production!
To sum it up…. James Passey, a Legend in the making.
Very best of luck to you James, you deserve every success!

Great debut CD. All songs are well written and the production is great. My favourite is “Don’t Leave Me Now”, which has a feeling of Oasis and even The Beatles about it! Close second is “Talk Forever”. James is definitely one to watch. I hope this does well for him as he deserves all the recognition he can get. Thoroughly nice bloke too!

I met James and his music last year on Insta via Maxine Kwok violinist with the LSO. What a find!
This is a great collection of tunes, beautifully arranged with shades of John Martyn, Nick Drake and dare I say it a smidge of Oasis on Track 3.
James is a rare talent, a man and his guitar, simple as that!
Thank you!

I came across James’s music via Mim Grey who posted a link to the track Dead Ends that complimented each other vocally. His voice and guitar playing combined with songwriting make him a complete package. I wish him luck on his journey that will undoubtedly lead to his music being played on the airwaves here in UK and further afield. When ‘Live’ music comes back to UK’s venues he will be a performer to see… Good Luck James…

I’ve been a supporter of James’ music for some time now and regularly play his material on my radio show Gaddland, on Radio Scarborough. I have also had the pleasure of interviewing him on my show. I had the good fortune of meeting James tonight, I picked up his EP in person as I live locally. A top man he speaks from the heart. And that’s what james’ songs do so well. Familiar sentiments echo through the lyrics combined with clever turns of phrase from the guitar. As I drove west into the setting sun, I was guided by a sound that felt like home. And in a way, no matter where in the world I am, James manages to tap into that part of your soul that feels like home. And that in itself, is priceless
